I know many of us here use journalling as a tool for self-reflection and expression but have you ever created an art journal rather than a written one? Being a word person, even my visual journal is filled with words, but it provides a different way of exploring and reflecting on your world.

I bought my last art journal (pictured above) at Nimbin markets – all handmade paper just asking to be filled with imagery. I’m including some examples of what I created within its pages to give you some ideas if this is something you want to try yourself.

If this is something you’ve done before I would love to see how and what you’ve created and how it supports your self-care and wellbeing. For me it helps with exploring identity, making meaning of life events and experiences, and a place to express feelings and thoughts I might not share elsewhere.

Below are some of the pages in my art journal. You are welcome to share yours as well, whether already done or something you attempt in the future.

What a beautiful journal and artwork you have created!

I started my journal after a writing down the dark course. I draw my feelings, looking back to process (the year of 2020), and so many cathartic creations of my soul as I stitch it back together.

Upload is a bit frustrating, but I am figuring it out.

I absolutely must do this and start collating all the bits and pieces i have lying around. I just grab the nearest piece of paper or cardboard, envelope etc and decorate it with my doodles 😊
I have done this for most of my life so as you can imagine there are loads of things just waiting to be repurposed into my journal.

I would like to (perhaps) use my bits and pieces as a reflective tool and a prompt for myself to extend my visual journal

Love the pages you shared here, it is so inspirational to see someone elses journal pages.

    Thanks
