Anyone want to share what’s in their survival kit? These are things that soothe your nervous system and calm your soul. For me it’s being with animals, music and the ocean. But you can have a whole collection of little and big things, the more you have to draw on the easier it is to choose something when it’s needed. What’s in your kit?

Over-eating. When I am in a better place, my survival kit is moving my body: hiking, biking, kayaking. I’ve been so down that my over-eating took me to weight heights unknown. To survive this, I keep trying on acceptance in my thoughts, “hey, this is getting you through.” My kit is expansive. I forget to use my skills way too much lately. My best skill is staying awake to moments of awe. Those seem to help me survive and cherish most. In particular in nature. A sunset that flames across the sky. A bid flying. Redwood trees.

This shows so much insight and courage to be honest. Eating is definitely an immediate strategy that works but unfortunately has unwanted long term side effects. Being in the moment with all those aww-inspiring things is definitely a great alternative. Thanks for sharing your survival kit with us!
