Adoptee Support
Adoption-Sensitive and Trauma-Informed Support
The dominant narrative about adoption is that adoptees are lucky and adoption saves them from a terrible life. This can make those impacted personally by adoption feel like there’s something wrong if they experience anything other than gratitude.
The reality is being adopted can have lifelong personal and psychological impacts. Research shows that adopted people have higher rates of psychological distress, experience problems with attachment, identity, fear of abandonment, relationships, and self-worth.
Reclaiming your own story, whatever that might look like, is an important part of addressing underlying issues related to grief, loss, identity and belonging. A trauma-informed counsellor with lived experience of adoption as well as adoption specific training can support you to explore difficult feelings and choices in a way that works best for you.

How it works:
Sessions take place over Zoom and last for 60 minutes. You can choose how many and how often you want to connect, and we’ll work out a time that suits your time zone. You can book by using the client portal or by contacting me directly.
Once you’re all booked in, we’ll send you a quick form to fill in to get you all set up on the system. That will enable us to send you an email reminder the day before your appointment along with a Zoom link to join at the time of your session.
Your investment is AUD$260 payable prior to your session. You can do this either by credit/debit card through the client portal when you book your appointment or requesting an alternative (PayID, Paypal, direct deposit) if you’d prefer this option.
If you have a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP, we can process your Medicare rebate (currently $98.95) for you for up to 10 sessions per year.
